The Aotea Centre Refurbishment, a complex project begun in 2018, modernized interior spaces and upgraded building services to meet contemporary standards. Key improvements included waterproofing, ventilation, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Three levels of foyers, bars, restrooms, and access routes were renovated with high-spec finishes like terrazzo flooring and decorative metals. The conventions wing also underwent extensive service upgrades. Despite an active event schedule, work was completed while maintaining operations. The refurbished Aotea Centre now sets a new benchmark for cultural infrastructure in Auckland.
