Napier Boys’ High School’s new Science and English buildings replace the aging Armour Block with modern, purpose-built learning spaces. Designed by S&T Wellington architects and S&T Auckland building services engineers in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the project enhances both classroom functionality and the central Quad, which now serves as an improved assembly venue. The English Block features a frontage that doubles as a stage, while the Science Block, facing the playing field, incorporates a DNA-inspired brise soleil to regulate heat. Along Te Awa Avenue, its facade creates the illusion of a two-story structure, balancing aesthetics with efficient single-story design.
